My Reflection!
My Reflection
Throughout this course, it's been a pleasure writing for my portfolio. I've enjoyed my time as a blogger and found a lot of interesting insights in learning how to actually write for different purposes and occasions. I also enjoyed reading the entries of others, whether they were about important issues or just fun things in general.
Perhaps my favorite post was Space Colonization is a Dumb Thing to Focus on Right Now. I had fun going off the rails and essentially ranting about what came to my mind first, while getting to talk about the boundless scale of space and what we'd need to conquer it. Another post I liked was Reddit vs. TikTok, because again, I got to rant about something I feel knowledgeable about. Both posts had the words flowing out of my finger tips and it was also fun to read other people's posts, especially with the social media in mind.
I can't think of any particular posts I didn't enjoy writing. The memoir post was a nice introduction to what we'd be doing, and the post about the Agenda Setting Function of Mass Media was also an interesting take on the state of modern media. As far as anything I wished we had written, nothing comes to mind- I feel like I was able to cover all bases. I got to write about something in an educational context, a silly context, and an opinion-based context. Looking through my portfolio was a nice recap of what I've done so far.
I'm confident in saying I've enjoyed the duration of this class and I also really enjoyed looking at other people's work. If I have any regrets, it's not having some of the ideas some of my other classmates had- I really wish I had written about UFOs for the current problem segment! Such an interesting thing going on that's received relatively little media attention.
I wish the instructor and my classmates good luck in pursuing their journalism careers (or technical writing, or whatever it is you plan to do) and maybe I'll see some of you at MSU next semester. Peace!
